Red calf binding by Root & Son (stamp on fly leaf) with gold fillets and rosettes on boards, 5 raised bands, gilt decoration and titles in compartments, turn-ins decorated in gilt, marbled endpapers, original dark navy spine panel with gilt title and one original dark navy buckram cover bound in, t.e.g., spine very lightly sunned and back edge a bit rubbed, interiors clean and bright, firmly bound.

The first of Barrie's two Tommy novels, "Sentimental Tommy" is about a boy who clings to childish fantasy, foreshadowing the appearance of Peter Pan (1904).

Sir James Matthew BARRIE, 1st Baronet, OM (1860 – 1937) was a Scottish novelist and playwright, best remembered as the creator of PETER PAN.
