Comments on this image from curator M. Dorothy George in her 1952 "Catalogue of Political and Personal Satires in the British Museum," tell us that the "trial" is taking place before a jury of notables, including Thomas Campbell, Thomas Moore, Samuel Rogers, and Sir William Curtis, with Sir Walter Scott as foreman. In the accompanying text the Reverand Alexander Fletcher is found guilty on several counts including "sundry shifts, shufflings, artifices, subterfuges, fictions, fabrications."
