Rare in its original dust jacket with just a few flaws, this cold-war thriller set in the early 1950's dealt with the anti-Communist hysteria in U.S. politics. It was the basis for the notable United Artists 1962 film directed by John Frankenheimer that stars Frank Sinatra as Ben Marco, Laurence Harvey as Raymond Shaw, Janet Leigh as Eugenie Rose Cheney, and Angela Lansbury as Eleanor Shaw Iselin.
The movie was remade in 2004, with the story reworked; directed by Jonathan Demme, it stars Denzel Washington as Bennett Marco, Liev Schreiber as Raymond Shaw, Jon Voight as U.S. Senator Tom Jordan, and Meryl Streep as Eleanor Prentiss Shaw.
