Intricate study of an iron and silver rapier
c1910. Graphite on cream wove paper, 9 1/4 x 6 inches (235 x 152 mm), the full sheet. In good condition with uniform toning.
The artist's notes indicate that this rapier is housed at the Louvre and object number 385 from the Davillier collection, a significant bequest that was made by Baron Jean-Charles Davillier. The collection is the cornerstone of the museum's French Decorative Art collection. This work is likely housed in the Richelieu wing.
