Hans Sebald Beham (1500 – 1550) is mainly known for his very small engravings. Born in Nuremberg, he spent the later part of his career in Frankfurt. He was one of the most important of the "Little Masters," the group of German artists making prints in the generation after Dürer.

A note on the provenance: D.G. de Arozarena was a collector of South American origin; he arrived in France in 1859 and after two years had built an important collection of prints and drawings. He sold it in 1861 on his return to South America.
