A detailed rendering of the balustrade and newel of the Escalier de Luynes, also known as the Luynes staircase. The remarkable architectural feature was once the central staircase of the Hôtel de Luynes, a Parisian mansion, home to the Dukes of Luynes. The townhouse was demolished in the 19th century, but its magnificent Baroque staircase was saved and is now a key exhibit at the Musée Carnavalet.
