Lucien Pissarro (1863-1944) was a French landscape painter, printmaker, wood engraver, designer, and printer of fine books. Son of the Impressionist painter Camille Pissarro, Lucien spent his formative years surrounded by his father's fellow artists, such as Claude Monet and Pierre-Auguste Renoir, who frequented the Pissarro home. He was influenced by Georges Seurat and Paul Signac. He first visited Great Britain in 1870–71, during the Franco-Prussian War, and after several visits settled in London permanently in 1890 becoming a citizen in 1916. With his wife Esther they founded the Eragny Press in 1894 where they published exquisite limited editions, often illustrated with Lucien's engravings and colored and bound by Esther.
