Money Hunting; Had I a heart for falsehood fram'd, I ne'er could injure you, For tho' your tongue no promise claim'd, Your charms would make me true," &c. &c.

London: Thomas Mclean, 1835. Etching with hand coloring in watercolor on cream wove paper, 5 1/8 x 6 1/8 inches (130 x 155 mm), full margins. In good condition with minor handling wear and three tabs of mountain tape along the top margin, well outside of image area. Colors are fresh.

The rare first edition of this image was titled, "Military Officer and a Stout Lady Seated on a Sofa," however, McClean, in the second state printing, added the title, "Money Hunting," further politicizing the image, comparing the British military to a suitor seeking a marriage dowry.
