c1660. Etching on cream laid paper mounted to a cream laid paper support, 9 x 12 7/8 inches (230 x 327 mm), thread margins. Three small areas of light skinning with one extremely small hole in the right-center sheet, especially visible when viewing the sheet through raking light. Early inscription in brown ink on the verso. Scattered light areas of discoloration and handling wear. All condition points are consistent with age. A rare image likely printed early 18th century, opposed to the more common reverse-image etching by Jan de Vischer after van Ostade.
