A collection of the last completed works by the author of Treasure Island and Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Robert Louis Stevenson (1850 – 1894) was a Scottish novelist, essayist, poet and travel writer, who travel broadly and settled in Samoa in 1889, where he was prodigiously productive and where he became involved with local politics and culture, gathering native stories and infusing some of his writing with these newfound themes. This first edition of the three short stories is accompanied by a set of engaging illustrations by Gordon Browne (1858 – 1932) and William Hatherell (1855-1928) both prolific illustrators who worked with publishers and magazines.
