Black buckram with gilt decorations on boards and gilt title on spine, pages uncut, leaves evenly toned and with no tears or foxing, partially sunned back board.
This edition of Blake's Songs of Innocence is reproduced from a copy in the British Museum, and is Blake's first major work of illuminated printing: the extraordinary, innovative synthesis of word and image. The original plates were printed in green ink and hand-colored by William Blake and his wife Catherine in distinctive, delicate pastels.
