One of the forever-classics of world literature interpreted in a highly decorative Art Nouveau style, with color printing, gold frames on every page, and orientalist sepia wood engravings to illustrate the stories. The Roman poet OVID (Pūblius Ovidius Nāsō) 43 BC – 18 AD lived during the reign of Augustus and was a contemporary of the older Virgil and Horace, with whom he is often ranked as one of the three canonical poets of Latin literature. Most famous for the "Metamorphoses", he made his earlier success with "The Art of Love" (Ars Amatoria) and this collection "The Heroines", a collection of fictitious letters attributed to heroines of mythology, where characters like Dido, Penelope and Medea write to their partners expressing their emotions at being separated from them, pleas for their return, and allusions to their future actions within their own mythology.
MANUEL ORAZI (1860–1934) was a French painter, illustrator, poster designer and decorator of Italian origin, mainly associated with the Art Nouveau style.
